Interdisciplinarity and transdisciplinarity are at the core of my work. My research, teaching, and service are all driven by a passion for fostering interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary collaboration and problem-solving. This commitment inspires me to push the boundaries of knowledge and support practitioners in tackling the most pressing challenges of our time.

Prior to my research career, I spent several years as an architectural designer in Mexico. This professional background has endowed me with a unique understanding of practitioners’ perspectives and their research needs. Moreover, it has shaped my research approach, which is inherently solution-oriented. I am constantly driven to bridge the gap between knowledge-building and problem-solving. This approach, rooted in the user’s needs, forms the foundation of my transdisciplinary research.

My research projects and publications usually involve researchers from multiple disciplines, asking them to conduct science without disciplinary boundaries. I also include partners from governmental organizations, non-governmental organizations, and the community, recognizing and valuing their epistemologies and experiences and tailoring the research objectives to fit their needs.
